When I start WaveBasis my charts and tabs are gone

Under normal circumstances, your workspace is saved automatically. So, when you open WaveBasis all of the tabs, charts, and gadgets you were viewing before you closed the app should be restored and remain intact. The platform is designed to allow you to pick up exactly where you were when you last used it. This includes whether or not you have already completed the workspace tour.

However, please note that some browsers, firewalls, and browser extensions with advanced privacy or security protection features may prevent your work from being saved automatically. These kinds of tools may also affect your use of WaveBasis in general. So, if you have enhanced privacy or security protection enabled, disable it for WaveBasis to experience the full power of the WaveBasis platform.

Also, since WaveBasis currently saves some of your workspace information in your browser’s file storage area, computer system changes, browser changes or updates, and virus or maintenance scanning software might affect your workspace layout.

In general, we strongly recommend using the Google Chrome browser because of its superior performance characteristics and better support of the advanced browser features that WaveBasis utilizes.

If you’re confident that changes to your device or browser settings aren’t causing the issue, please contact us via support@wavebasis.com, and we’ll be happy to assist you further.

I can’t find projected waves on my chart

When your projection is too far in the future to display on your immediate chart view, you will need to use the zoom and pan features to scroll the projected waves into view.

It may be helpful for you to lock wave lines for the projected pattern. You can lock the wave lines of a pattern on the chart by right-clicking on any wave in the pattern, then selecting “Lock/Unlock” in the pop-up menu, followed by clicking on “Wave Lines”. You can explore more about wave count enhancements in our support documentation.

Another helpful trick you could try is using the constrain price axis feature. This feature may assist you in getting to projected waves quicker.

TIP: changing the timeframe is a quick way to jump back to the most recent price action once you’ve found your projected waves.

How often should I re-run a wave count?

Successful Elliott Wave analysis is always the result of a thoughtful and deliberate process. Automatic wave counts are only one part of a comprehensive approach to practicing Elliott Wave analysis successfully and reliably.

Rather than repeatedly recalculate the same wave count, once you’ve already got a wave count that you’ve developed confidence in, the typical practice is to simply continue to evolve the wave count forward in line with evolving price action.

Wave counts are meant to be tracked over time, and you should expect a wave count to remain stable over time, especially longer-term wave counts. Once you have decided on a wave count(s) to follow, you should not expect it to change significantly at the higher wave degrees as time progresses, depending on your trading horizon and chart timeframe.

Wave counts should be recalculated only when necessary, such as when price action invalidates the wave count at higher degrees or is close to invalidating, although there may be other appropriate reasons. This process mirrors what a typical human Elliott Wave expert would do, although it is obviously vastly more streamlined, comprehensive, and precise with WaveBasis.

WaveBasis offers several tools to help facilitate sound and effective analysis workflows when tracking and updating a count over time. More specifically, it’s recommended that you use the Count Subwaves feature to periodically update only the lower degree section(s) at the end of a count that develops with live market action. This allows you to keep consistency with the larger wave count context and avoid confusion.

Then, once you’ve counted the subwaves toward the end of the count, you can use the Re-run count feature to update it as needed. Additionally, when you use the Count Subwaves feature at the end of a count, you can use the Alternate Wave Counts gadget to evaluate subwaves and projection possibilities. As a result, the Alternate Wave Counts gadget can dramatically improve your probability of identifying the correct count. Thus, a workflow that uses a combination of these tools is highly effective for evolving a wave count over time and deriving reliable forecasts.

If you prefer to inspect subwaves or smaller timeframes of a particular count in a separate chart, the Drilldown feature may be just right for you.

In addition to the automated tools noted above, the Project Pattern Forward feature can be used to evolve wave counts manually as waves are confirmed. This can help to provide an expected roadmap at various wave degrees and timeframes, which can be helpful for maintaining confidence in the ongoing progress of the count, as well as maintaining a clearer understanding of context and overall risk.
