Unscheduled maintenance incident – 4 March 2019

What happened

In the early morning of 4 March, 2019 the WaveBasis infrastructure suffered a partial system failure which rendered critical components of the platform inaccessible for many users. When the failure was detected, our engineers immediately went to work to restore full platform function. However, the restoration efforts took several hours to complete. During this time the application itself was taken offline. We deeply regret the inconvenience that this caused.

Current status

As of approximately 9:30am EST, the WaveBasis platform is back online at full function and capacity.

Moving forward

We understand that our users rely on the charting and Elliott Wave intelligence of the WaveBasis platform as a critical part of their trading. So, in order to better ensure continuous uninterrupted function and availability of the platform, key operational changes have been imposed:

  1. Our application server capacity has been increased
  2. Our existing automated failover mechanisms have been enhanced to improve overall platform resiliency to better cope with unexpected component failures
  3. Team assignments have been refashioned to allow for increased staff responsibility overlap

This was the first incident of its kind on the WaveBasis platform, and we’ve learned from it. Moving forward, we’re even better equipped to handle incidents of this kind that are an inevitable part of operating a complex global platform.

Thanks to our enthusiastic and loyal users for your continued support.
